Plasencia Cigars, originating from Nicaragua, is named after the brand’s owner, Nestor Plasencia. Nestor Plasencia has factories in Honduras and Nicaragua, a key figure in the cigar industry. He has been integral in establishing leading cigar brands, such as Rocky Patel and Alec Bradley.
Offering smooth yet complex medium-bodied smokes, the Plasencia range boasts years of industry experience held by the Plasencia family, originating in 1865 with Don Eduardo Plasencia growing tobacco in Vuelta Abajo, Cuba. Crafted from Nicaragua and Honduras tobacco, their range of cigars presents some of the best flavours these areas have to offer.
The Plasencia family are one of the largest tobacco growers for premium cigars in the world and produce 40 million cigars a year.

The Plasencia Cosecha 149 It showcases Nestor Andrés Plasencia vast array of tobacco, this time the focus of the Plasencia Cosecha 149 blend is consisting solely of Honduran tobacco. Not just any Honduran tobacco, but Plasencia’s 149th harvest, which happened in 2014. Now that the tobacco has had seven years to age, the Plasencia’s have turned it into something special. The Plasencia Cosecha 149 is blended with a wrapper from Olancho, San Agustín, a binder from Jamastran and mix of filler tobaccos from Jamastran, Talanga and Olancho. The Cosecha 149 is made in Honduras at the Plasencia’s Tabacos de Oriente factory and delivers a medium to full bodied smoke.

For the Alma Fuerte, a team of five blenders, including Plasencia, Sr. and Jr., worked to create the cigar from 100% Nicaraguan tobaccos. The blend focuses around the family’s Criollo ’98 seed, using tobaccos from each of the major growing regions of Nicaragua (Condega, Estelí, Jalapa, and Ometepe). In addition, the Plasencia are using some of their rarest and most premium-grade leaves from their vast tobacco inventories.
The latest addition to this line, the Sixto I is a new option for those who enjoy this luxurious smoke but don’t want the full intensity, the Sixto I is like a Cappuccino compared to the Sixto II which is more like an espresso.
The blend has been slightly tweaked for the Sixto I and an different wrapper finishes this cigar which is a Colorado Claro which takes away some of the intensity.

The Spanish word for snake is culebra, a word that has special meaning for cigar smokers. In February, Chinese New Year will ring in the upcoming Year of the Snake on the Chinese zodiac calendar, and therefore, cigar companies are beginning to announce new releases for the Year of the Snake. So far, Plasencia is the first to incorporate a culebra as part of its release.
Each box of the Plasencia El Año de la Culebra Edición Limitada 2025 includes two types of cigars: eight of the cigars are 7 x 40 lanceros, while two of the cigars are twisted into a culebra. Most culebras are made with three cigars twisted together, though this isn’t the first to use the two-cigar concept. All 10 cigars are made to be 7 x 40, but two are twisted together at the factory before being packaged, but are designed to be smoked separately. Blend-wise, the cigars are made entirely of Nicaraguan tobacco.
